8/7/07

My new Leblanc Symphonie clarinets have been getting a daily workout since I brought them home on 12 July 2007. I am learning the new placement of fingers on the keys, as the keys are slightly different in shape and placement than on my Buffet R-13 and Selmer 10S clarinets.

I am having difficulty trying to adjust to the very responsiveness of these instrumments too. There is virtually no break on them and they take much less physical work to play. I have been using the Rose Studies as I learn to let them become an extension of my being. It will be so nice when I don't have to think about which notes have to be "man-handled " and which don't as I work to achieve the perception that makes a clarinetist appear to play without effort. This perception is reality with these clarinets. I am able to play music that I only dreamed of playing before.

I am interested in knowing what thoughts others have who have recently purchased these instruments, pro and con. It is now 3:30 am and I am going to sleep. More later........
